Werren has never been seen by humans. Until now. You, have been chosen, by the Council, to be the first, the very first humans to enter another dimension, the Kingdom of Werren.
Werren is a different world than ours. For instance, the Council has selected a few of its inhabitants to be your companions. They are daemons. Not demons. Companions. That take on an animal form. They reflect your personality. My daemon... Wait, you do not know me? Oh, I am Tern. Head of the Council. But I am human you say. I was given special pass into Werren, I was special, they said. So now I am head of the Council. But welcome, human. You enter into a world plagued by war, and strive for power.
Werren is divided by evil and good. We, the Council, take in the pure citizens. They are animals of course. But then, there is Matrh, leader of Evil. He has tricked some of our citizens into his service. But that is a story for another time. Your adventure has already begun. Come...

Parra ruffled her wings. She reflected Tern's own mood. It was happening. The dimension was letting in the humans. Parra didn't think much of humans. Except for Tern. Always him. He was special. And then there was the other... She shivered. She wouldn't think of that. That was too much. Right now... She could see the portal opening, and the others gathering around. Who would be chosen? Who would be the human's daemon? She watched inquisitively as the blackness of the portal grew clearer, and she could see smelly boxes and smoke and large structures with glass separating the humans from the earth. She watched for any sign of the coming ones. Nothing moved. Nothing stirred. She looked up, and twisted her head around. To her right... The Torn Mountains. They sat together, but were actually one mountain torn in two. Their red glare hurt her eyes, so she turned the other way. There was her home, her beloved Werren. The kingdom she loved so much. She shifted her claws on Tern's shoulder. He looked up at her. "When are they coming?" she hooted.
"Soon Parra," Tern whispered to his daemon. She had taken the form of a snowy owl, and now sat perched on his shoulder. He was attached to her in so many ways. Tern was interested to see which animal would be chosen for the human. The animal that would be bonded with them, that would gain the right of speech... So much had changed for him. So much. Don't think about that, he chided himself. This time he had to be strong for the newcomer. He gazed into the portal, a sudden chill running up his spine. He knew Parra was feeling the same. She felt what he felt, yet she felt her own animal instincts and thoughts as well. He could feel her wings aching to be used, and pitied her. She was getting anxious, and so was he. "Soon... Soon they will be here," he murmured to himself as much as his companion. He watched the portal intently, waiting for the human to stumble into Werren.

Beatrice walked through the portal as if she were half-asleep, her feet dragging and her eyes tired and listless. When she stepped out of it and onto the tiled floors of the palace*, she gasped in shock and stepped back, immediately glaring at Tern and the white owl sitting with her. "How did I...? Where is this?!" she demanded, seeming to grasp that this wasn't a dream.
(You haven't really described much besides how Parra and Tern are feeling. What do the torn mountains look like? Where in the kingdom are they? What does Tern look like?)

Carole ran quickly, repeating the same words around in her head. I'm Late I'm Late I'm Late I'm Late I'm Late. She thought to herself, skidding around a corner and almost knocking someone else down. "Sorry!" She yelled over her shoulder, when something amazing happened. Something completely out of the ordinary. As she was running, it seemed that the scenery around her changed, into almost a whimsical look. She was so caught up in looked around herself, and not paying attention to the awesome thing that had happened, that when she came out of the portal, since she was running, the ran right into another girl. A short girl hat she tried hard to avoid, but ended up running into her, stopping her very suddenly and throwing her to the floor.

Tern looked at the two humans with slight amusement. His mouth twitched with a small smile. Of course they were stunned. They were in the Golden Throne Room. Tern was seated on the Golden Throne, his hand resting on one of the carved lions that adorned the armrests. The intricately detailed tiles on the floor depicted the animals of the kingdom. Animals adorned the pillars that lined the walls, and were embroidered on the red drapes that bordered the windows. The white marble gave the room a clean feeling, and light streamed in from the two suns. Tern stood, and strode down the steps to stand in front of the fallen girls. "Welcome," he boomed. He had decided to use his most commanding voice for the occasion. "Welcome to the Kingdom of Werren."
Parra sniffed. She didn't get the feeling of kinship Tern felt for these humans. They were... ungraceful to say the least. Quite young too. "These are the humans?" Parra clacked her beak. She looked down at the girls, and felt a twinge of pity for them. Tern looked at her. I don't see why you like them so, she thought. Tern frowned. Parra, he warned. Parra was almost thrown back when Tern's feelings for the humans hit her full force. She realized, that even with her, he had lacked human socialization, human love. She wanted Tern to be happy, that's what she wanted. He was the most important thing to her. She glanced over to the Twin Mountains. Their ugly red stone faces glared at her. The snow on the tips had turned a blood red, making the mountains seem painted with blood. The Twin Mountains hid Matrh and his ungrateful daemon, Ceed. Stone windows dotted the mountains, but there was little light inside. Parra preferred it in the meadows of Werren. She snapped her attention back to Tern and the humans. Preening her feathers, she chose careful words. Looking back at the girls, she started, "Welcome." Her piercing eyes passed over them both. "You are both chosen. The Kingdom of Werren is in conflict. You are here, to help as you can. But first, your daemons." She gestured to the animals with her wing.

[Hmmm, let me see... ]
Carole stood up in amazement, her eyes were plastered on her surroundings. The palace was beautiful, the ground was covered in, what was it? Tiles! She then looked up, and she wished her eyes were bigger; to take it all in. The whole palace was a beacon of wonderful artistry. The pillars as well, were painted with the most magnificent creatures. Like the tile. There were windows too, and they as well shared the thee of the room. What was that she saw through them? Mountains. Red, blood red mountains. At first they sent a shiver down her back, for some particular reason. Then, as she stood up and brushed herself off, she saw another human! He was seated on a magnificent golden thrown, and on his shoulder was. What? An owl? Finally, her mind caught up with her as she recalled, seconds before, the owl speaking! Is this all a dream? She didn't have time to think, because at the owl's command, some animals were entering the room. She guessed, they too, could speak like the owl, but, being herself, she wasn't surprised. She was known to take many things in at once, and sometimes not appreciate them to their fullest.

Beatrice crawled away from the girl who'd fallen from her and stood up just as quickly. She looked over at the girl and white owl standing before them, radiating authority with subtle happiness at the two.
"Welcome. You are both chosen. The Kingdom of Werren is in conflict. You are here to help as you can, but first, your daemons," the girl stated in a certain tone that implied she wasn't giving a mere request. Bea clenched her fists and stared right at Parra.
"Chosen by what, and why should I trust you? Getting stolen away and taken to strange land isn't a good way to start, I'm sure you know," she replied firmly.
(How old is Tern?)

[Tern is about 24.]
Parra ruffled her feathers. "Watch your mouth human." She looked back to Tern. He had clenched his jaw. She felt his frustration ripple through her. Parra sighed. "You two have been chosen by the Council. You will learn more of that later." Parra flinched as Tern came up behind her. She flew up to sit on his shoulder. "First," Tern commanded, "You will receive your daemons. These animals are based upon your personalities, and you may find them to your liking." Tern stepped back, and two animals stepped forward. "The process on which we choose these animals is thorough, and precise. Do not question our decision, the animals are meant for you." Parra watched eagerly. These two would soon gain the power of speech!
Tern studied the girl in front of him. Feisty, this one was. That put a slight smile on his lips. The animals, a red fox and a river otter, looked curious. Tern was interested to see how the girls would react to the bond that would be formed soon. The other girl, looked awed and amazed. Tern didn't blame her. He wanted to reach out to both of them, touch other human beings, but he restrained himself. They were not here for him. They were here for Werren. "Shall we begin the Joining?"

Beatrice stepped back as a sleek, small, timber brown, weasel-like otter with beady eyes and a wise grin, and a beautiful reddish fox walked in their direction. Ordinarily, two animals like them would have seemed cute and fun, even fascinating, but... "That still doesn't give me a reason to trust you. You haven't explained anything! This isn't the 18th century; I have no obligation to trust you just because you're the head of some shady council!" she roared.
Sol lowered his head and sighed. Such a troubled, rebellious human was going to be his partner? The council are not to be doubted. They've taken care of us for long enough to understand who we are. There's got to be a reason. There has to, he repeated to himself.

Carole's eyes stopped gazing at her surroundings, and Tern, when they met the eyes of the fox. He, too, was looking around the room. She suddenly felt very strongly for that small fox, and she didn't know why. She let her eyes flicker quickly away from him to Tern, and then she heard. Beatrice's remark. Although she was still quite star-struck at the sight of the fox ( and she still didn't know why) she decided to speak, finally. "Well, he did just send you through a, er, well, some kind of tunnel through dimensions, so I think I'll trust him." She was satisfied at what she'd said, and in her mind, the matter was over with. "So, these are going to be our, daemons?" She asked slowly, hoping not to make a fool of herself from saying it wrongly, or saying something wrong altogether. "That fox is sorta cute.." Carole suddenly felt childish, saying that an animal was cute, in front of someone, well, that she thought was important and had much power. She felt herself blush.

Parra laughed suddenly. "I'm sure he will appreciate a more, chivalrous compliment." She glanced at Jasper, her soon to be fellow daemon. "The process is painful, we must warn you. Not just for the humans, but for the animals also. You will experience your partner's life, their struggles and their hardships, but you will feel their joy, and pride in addition. Each experience is different, some more painful than others, some more sorrowful than most. It depends on the history of human and daemon."
Tern nodded along with Parra. He could sense her anticipation, and adrenaline ran through his veins. "As for your question, milady, this is quite like the 18th century. In fact, earth and everything associated with it is behind you," he murmured, gesturing to the portal, which had already shrunk to the size of a frisbee. "Your home is here now, and you shall respect authority." Tern stepped forward and put a hand on each of the girls' shoulders. "I should think that you will begin to trust me, as time goes along." He studied the quieter girl's face intently. Big green eyes danced, framed with long blond hair. She had a smile that seemed to light up the room. Turning his indigo eyes to the other, he found a face full of determination. They were quick, and calculating. Evidently she could scheme like the great War Chiefs. "I would hope that you would," he said quietly.
Parra sighed. He liked the two girls already. Stop drooling over them and let's get on with it! she snapped. Tern jerked his head when her sharp comment entered his mind. His jawline hardened. I'm not drooling over them, he told her quickly. Of course you're not, she replied, sarcasm evident in her words. "The Joining shall begin momentarily," Parra said, her voice cool and confident. Tern took his hands off of the girls. He looked from one to the other. "Are you ready?" he asked them.

Beatrice slapped Tern's hand off her shoulder with all her strength and glared iciy at the king. "Don't. Lay. Another. Finger. On. Me. Just try to pull any crap and I'll show you how much I respect your authority" she spat, pausing for a moment. "Do whatever this joining is, since you're too selfish and arrogant to send us home. And don't ever even pretend that I'll trust you."
Sol looked over at the human girl whose left arm was still raised from when she'd hit the Council Leader. She was probably at least as stubborn as Tern, except more fiery. It was interesting, but also just a little bit unsettling. Jasper seemed to be getting the better end of the deal so far.
