Carole nodded, briefly. For some reason, she couldn't understand it, but she trusted them. It seemed as though she was needed her, and it was much better than life on earth. She was sure that there was no global warming, orphanages, everything else she hated about her life. She was beginning to enjoy this. "So, when we will get bonded to them?" She asked, anxiously. Even though it might hurt, it seemed exciting to be able to experience such a wonder.

Tern ground his teeth. "Careful little one," he murmured to the fiery girl. His blood was boiling, but he kept a blank face. Stepping back, he held out his hand. His indigo eyes drained of their color and instead became completely black. A ball of black fire appeared in his outstretched hand, and floated there, a perfect orb of magic. Then, he held out his other hand. His eyes once again changed colors, this time becoming completely white. White fire snaked up his arm and formed another orb, this in his other hand. He murmured the words of the Joining quietly. "Iraa notu feour ii whiicen ett ternn. Iraa notu feour ii whiicen ett ternn."
Parra quietly translated for him. "It means, let these ones be joined for eternity." Tern stopped, and raised his arms. Bands of white fire raced across the bodies of the animals, encircling the black orb. Black fire snaked up the bodies of the two girls, and circled the white orb. He lifted them, and slowly brought them together. There was a bright flash, and Parra closed her eyes. When she opened them, Tern was standing back as he was, indigo eyes back to normal again. She could feel the magic tingling in her wings. She shook her feathers. "It is done," Tern said.

Carole felt herself stiffen as the magic touched her, and then she let out a scream, in her mind, as she felt the power of two lives, combined. Suddenly, she saw it. The Jasper's life, right before her eyes. Suddenly, she knew his name too, and as she experienced the many feelings his heart had felt, she felt that they were much alike. The pain, though, was excruciating, wonderful, magical, torture, and peace. It was like experiencing everything at once. A heartbreak, she could feel, joy, pain, laughter, happiness, and while she felt this, she could see, in her mind, blurry images. There were red blurs, foxes, she guessed, then she saw humans, she saw everything. Jasper, too, was feeling the same emotions, maybe even a bit more that her, because she had lived longer. He felt the agony of living without a family, he felt the happiness in finding friends, he felt the amazement of being transported here, and then, he could hear her thoughts, clear as day. She too, could hear his, and they stared at each other, hearts racing, eyes frozen, as the magic ended. "W-woa..." Carole said, losing her balance for a moment. "Y-yeah..." Jasper said, his first word. For a moment, he felt a twang of regret. That was it? My first word was "y-yeah"? I'm pathetic. Carole heard this, and decided to give it a try. At least you can speak, most foxes, well, the ones I know, can't do that at all. They both smiled a bit, enjoying having each other for the first time ever.

"Don't call me a 'little one,' you arrogant son o-" Beatrice started to say before she was surrounded by black fire. She clutched her arms tightly enough to draw blood and opened her mouth as if to scream, but forced herself to stay silent and grit her teeth. There was no way she'd let Tern see her screaming in agony and looking so feeble and powerless. However, by trying to block out the pain, she also unconciously blocked the sensations that Sol felt. She didn't ever feel the loyalties to the king, or the anxious happiness of knowing that he was going to find a human partner, the knowledge that he'd be able to help his homeland, the very desire for battle. So many strong feelings were being echoed and none reached her.
The otter daemon, on the other hand, accepted everything that he was feeling, gradually becoming aware of his partner's own emotions. He shivered as he imagined the girl lunging at the Council Leader, attacking him, killing him... and was awed at the memories of a city and all the humans.
Finally, the pain subsided and the connection had been made between the two. Sol closed his eyes and transmitted a message to her. "You shouldn't... think such things. Tern isn't that bad. He's just... sociopathic... and a bit arrogant," he carefully told her. Sociopath. It was a word that Bea had known, but he'd only just learned. So the joining was strong enough to share knowledge too...? "He's probably the only way I can get home. It's not like I was really gonna do that so soon, stupid," Beatrice replied. "Then don't think such uneccesary things."

The light of day was starting to fade as the twin suns set on opposite sides of the horizon. Tern studied the arrogant girl who had been joined with Sol. He didn't bother to try and decipher her look, because he had seen enough. She looked at him accusingly, almost with a hatred. Tern stepped back instinctively. He had seen that look before. She reminds me of her, Tern said to Parra. The white owl shifted uncomfortably. She is long gone, Tern. Stop dwelling on what you cannot change. Tern sighed. Stepping back, he motioned for some animals to come forward. Parra, he murmured. She clacked her beak and flew down to talk with the animals. Tern rubbed his neck. He gathered up the courage to face the two girls. "The servants will prepare your rooms for you. I have work to do, but Parra will show you and your daemons the palace." With that, he strode out of the room.
Parra sent the servant animals to the designated rooms, and turned to face the girls. "Well now, I haven't seen another Joining in a while. I remember mine..." she trailed off, then refocused herself. Motioning to the other animals, she dismissed them. They left quietly, returning to their homes in the villages. When they were alone, Parra turned to the pairs once again. "Now, I'll show you to your rooms. No one's ever been inside the palace rooms before, save the servants. Oh, and myself and Tern." She flapped her wings once and headed towards the right of the throne room, ignoring the view of the Twin Mountains.

Carole nodded, and followed the owl. He motioned for Jasper to follow, though he already was. What do you think the room's will be like? She asked her daemon, trying not to look at him. She enjoyed having the ability to talk through thoughts, it would allow them to do so much.. Jasper then responded through thought. I'm not sure, I've always imagined them being amazing. Like rooms for royalty almost. Jasper then lost himself in daydreams of splendid abodes.

Parra flew down the corridor, stopping at the first door. She turned the brass knob with one claw, then pushed. The door clicked open, and swung inwards. Parra flew to the bed post and landed, balancing herself perfectly. The room was large and spacious, furnished with a four poster bed, and a lower cushioned dais for the daemon. There was a huge double door wardrobe, also made of the dark mahogany wood (as was the beds), and a mahogany vanity with a bronze mirror. The bed was covered with burgundy silk and goose-down pillows, same as the dais. There were large french doors opening out onto a balcony facing the Twin Mountains, and overlooking one of the palace gardens.
Running water could be heard coming from the old-fashioned bathroom, and Parra flew in, leading the girls with her. "Oh good," she murmured. Turning to face the girls, she looked at Carole. "This is to be your room Carole. You will stay here with Jasper." Parra said something to the servant, and motioned to Carole. "The bath is ready for you. Fresh clothes are in the wardrobe. Beatrice, Sol, please, come with me." Parra flew out of the bathroom and out into the corridor.

Bea reluctantly followed, though the hateful glare on her face had softened into more of an angry scowl, much to the happiness of Sol. (I'll add in more things later, but this is just to keep the RP moving, since I'm falling behind. Sorry. It's probably just going to be more internal dialogue anyway.)

[Whoops sorry. My mind was on something else. Been busy today, so my pace is like, double time. I'm sorry that it's affecting my posts. Sorry squirrel.]
Parra glanced behind her at the human. She slowed a bit. "Where are you from?" she asked politely.

Carole stuck her head into the room, and what she saw was amazing! She saw beds, closets, a dresser, someplace she thought was for Jasper, and a balcony. It was so splendid she couldn't help but call a small 'Thank you!' out the door to the owl. Jasper, too, was in awe. He felt her excitement, and she felt his. It seemed they were a lot alike, for what they felt had matched up so far.
Carole stepped deeper into the room, and then quickly stepped back, taking off her shoes that she didn't want dirtying the room. She then walked back over to Jasper. "Wow, this is really something.." She murmured, it was truly something, back on earth she had lived in an orphanage, and that wasn't half as good as the closet. Jasper nodded, "Mmhmm," then slowly walked over to his fluffy dais and plopped down. "You've got to get on your bed, it's great.." Carole giggled a bit, and then followed his suggestion. It was great. She guessed the pillows were goose feather, or something very nice, that she couldn't guess.
So, for a few moments they just laid there. ENjoying the view from the balcony. "So, what are we supposed to help with again?" Carole asked her companion. Yet, he just shrugged. "I'm not sure, I never really understood what they told me."

"A much better place than here," Beatrice snapped, "Why do you care where you kidnapped me from? Isn't my 'home' here now?" "That isn't helping." Sol sighed, finding it easier to talk to her. He continued to walk a few paces behind his partner and sighed. "Don't care," she replied. Parra and Tern are connected, but they aren't the same being. It's not Parra's fault," Bea said nothing.

Parra grimaced. The girl needed to soften up a bit. She shook her head. "Everywhere is a better place than here at the moment," she said quietly. Memories of her sister flew into her head. Ceed had chosen the form of a raven. She hadn't been quite the same after she was bonded with Matrh. Parra pushed the thoughts out of her mind. "You have a family?" she asked.

"Everywhere is a better place than here." "Eh...?" The owl's hushed reply made Beatrice freeze for just a second. She almost didn't notice the second question until she read it from Sol. "Y-yeah. A father and one younger sister," she replied, too caught off guard to think of a snarkier reply. Something about Parra... her tone, probably, seemed off. Maybe it was regret? Sadness? No, I'm overthinking it. It doesn't matter. It's not worth getting more involved with any of them than I have to. she thought to herself, blocking out Sol just like she had during the Joining. "What's wrong?" Sol questioned as soon as he noticed the brief weakening of the connection. "Stop eavesdropping. I'm not thinking anything bad, okay? I get it. Parra isn't like Tern," she replied silently in the same way that a lectured child did. "Tern's not that b-" "Quit it!" she ordered. Sol shot her a defiant glance and then looked forward again.

Parra looked at Beatrice. "A sister. What is she like?" the snowy owl asked softly, willing her own emotions not to leak into her voice. Pictures of Ceed flew into her head. "Parra," she heard Tern say gently, "Ceed's choice was her own. You can do nothing for her right now." Tern's thoughts faded as Parra's emotions clouded her mind. A single tear, indigo in color, dropped to the ground underneath her. A streak of indigo tear marked her facial disk. Parra ignored it.

Beatrice looked blankly at Parra. Again, something about Parra was off. She decided not to act too suspicious of the daemon and try to see what would happen. "Who, Mel? She acts pretty loud and energetic, kinda tomboyish, I guess... She's usually sympathetic, but kinda dense as well. Mel's the kind of person who can't read an atmosphere, but really tries to act like she gets the situation, y'know?" she explained, her demeanor quickly changing. "...Why do you want to know?"

"Because I have a-" Parra caught herself. "I have a strong curiosity about... families," she said hastily. "They're... nice," she said weakly. Her pace slowed as they reached Beatrice's room. Parra nodded at the door. She hoped the streak of indigo wasn't too noticeable, on her face. "This is your room," she murmured, trying to compose herself once again.

Beatrice narrowed her eyes. She opened her mouth to say, 'that's obviously a lie,' but Sol cut her off. "Stop! ...She doesn't like to talk about it. Not even with us. I mean, there are a few rumors that her family is on Ceed's side and disowned her, or that Ceed killed her family when she was young, okay? So please don't ask. It's not like it can help you, right?" he persuaded, somewhat reserved and cautious. He sighed in relief, sensing Bea holding back on her choice. Bea, without looking Parra directly in the eye for once, simply thanked the daemon and stepped inside, walking somewhat quickly as if trying to make things go by faster.
(If the rumors hinder the plot, just tell me and I'll get rid of them. Sol just needed a temporary explanation for her.)

(No, the rumors make things interesting. She'll have to get the truth out somehow, sometime anyway.)
Parra followed into the room. This was almost the same as Carole's room, but there were blues and silvers instead of the deep reds. Beatrice's window and balcony overlooked the lake, and the ceiling was covered with paintings of the first sea animals. Sol's dais wasn't like Jasper's, it was built into the ground. There was water and a large rock just above the surface. The pool was large and twice as deep as Beatrice. On the other side of the room was the large bed, covered with embroidered blue silk. There was also a wardrobe, and a desk. The desk held it's own quill and ink pot. Running water also could be heard from the bathroom. Parra perched on the back of the desk chair.

Sol gaped at the beautiful room in front and couldn't help but feel eager to try swimming in the lake. Even Beatrice couldn't help but stare for a moment. What exactly were she and that other girl to them, getting such regal treatment. Or... what were they going to make the two of them do? She squeezed her pants leg tensely, the view of the lake and the room already losing her attention. "Why are you doing all of this for us? What exactly are we supposed to do for you?" she asked firmly to the daemon sitting on the wooden chair.

The white owl looked at Beatrice, her gaze never wavering. "You are here because Werren needs you. The Army of the South has grown powerful, too powerful for myself and Tern to defeat on our own. You are also here beca-" Parra was cut off when a large tigress strode into the room. The tigress dipped her head in greeting. "So the new ones are here," she said. The tigress blinked her yellow eyes. Parra looked at the tigress, then remembering herself, she looked at Beatrice. "This is Liin. She is... The fifth daemon."

Parra ruffled her feathers nervously. "Um, well..." She stopped, and looked to the door. "You'll find out later," she muttered. She flew out the door, leaving Liin in the room.

Bea scowled, clenching her fist tightly as Parra left without an answer. She gritted her teeth and kept silent for a long time, rethinking about all that had happened. She wouldn't ever get to see anyone ever again... the arrogance of Tern... Parra telling them as little as possible... being sent to a war against her will...
Suddenly, she reached for the chair under the desk and slammed it against the vanity, shattering the mirror and leaving bits of glass everywhere. She hurled the wooden seat at the door, the legs breaking into pieces, and knocked a desk over. "Damn you! Who the hell do you two think you are, stealing us from our homes and hiding things as if we don't have the right to know?! You're disgusting! Get out of my sight! DIE!" she roared, tears streaming down her eyes. She yanked the sheets off the bed and carved into the walls with one of the legs of the chair.

A tall lanky boy stood outside Beatrice's door, deciding whether or not to knock. He heard something crash against the door and jumped back, his heart racing. "Liir, what's going on?" he asked his daemon quickly. "She's angry Stephen," the tiger replied. "She had a family. I'll try to calm her down if I can," Liir added. Stephen went to the door, and raised his fist as if to knock, then lowered it. He sighed and leaned against the wall.
The large tigress roared. She couldn't deal with a distraught human this way. Her claws sank into the carpeted floor, and her tail lashed angrily.
