[brown] It's Dangerous... [/brown] [purple]Life Threatening...[/purple] [green]Cause of most future animal extinctions![/green] It's as real as it gets, I'm here to explain to you- Global Warming.
Global Warming - is the increase in the average temperature of the Earth's near-surface air and the oceans since the mid-twentieth century and its projected continuation. Global surface temperature increased 0.74 ± 0.18 °C (1.33 ± 0.32 °F) during the 100 years ending in 2005. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) concludes that anthropogenic greenhouse gases are responsible for most of the observed temperature increase since the middle of the twentieth century, and that natural phenomena such as solar variation and volcanoes probably had a small warming effect from pre-industrial times to 1950 and a small cooling effect afterward. These basic conclusions have been endorsed by more than 40 scientific societies and academies of science, including all of the national academies of science of the major industrialized countries. Yes, its a huge thing. But if you want to know what is the huge deal about Global Warming, its that it can end our new generation. No- I am not a little 'save energy' freak, I'm someone who wants my grand children, and on going generations to continue- not to be ended by something us human beings started. Apparently, there is a giant hole in our very own [green]Ozone Layer[/green]. This Ozone Layer protects harmful, and deathening Ultra Violet Rays from reaching the earth. If any day these rays would come down, we all would become [orange] ONE BIG FLAME!![/orange]. ---- Now, of course we dont... well, - That to happen to us... so what do we do to stop it? TOO BAD, its super top secret you need to join first. um, nvm. jk. Here is a list of our Main Causes that is... well causing Global Warming to occur. Alright well, not everything is our falt... there are the. Natural CausesNatural causes are causes created by nature. One natural cause is a release of methane gas from arctic tundra and wetlands. Methane is a greenhouse gas. A greenhouse gas is a gas that traps heat in the earth's atmosphere. Another natural cause is that the earth goes through a cycle of climate change. This climate change usually lasts about 40,000 years. But there are also, Man-made CausesMan-made causes probably do the most damage. There are many man-made causes. Pollution is one of the biggest man-made problems. Pollution comes in many shapes and sizes. Burning fossil fuels is one thing that causes pollution. Fossil fuels are fuels made of organic matter such as coal, or oil. When fossil fuels are burned they give off a green house gas called CO2. Also mining coal and oil allows methane to escape. How does it escape? Methane is naturally in the ground. When coal or oil is mined you have to dig up the earth a little. When you dig up the fossil fuels you dig up the methane as well. There are also, the Over Population causes. Another major man-made cause of Global Warming is population. More people means more food, and more methods of transportation, right? That means more methane because there will be more burning of fossil fuels, and more agriculture. Now your probably thinking, "Wait a minute, you said agriculture is going to be damaged by Global Warming, but now you're saying agriculture is going to help cause Global Warming?" Well, have you ever been in a barn filled with animals and you smell something terrible? You're smelling methane. Another source of methane is manure. Because more food is needed we have to raise food. Animals like cows are a source of food which means more manure and methane. Another problem with the increasing population is transportation. More people means more cars, and more cars means more pollution. Also, many people have more than one car. Now think for a moment, pollution causes Global Warming- so we don't want to litter, trash, or do anything to cause this pollution. But have you ever thought? When you take a gum wrapper outside and throw it on the group, its a TINY piece of paper, what harm can it do? In fact, it can do... much. You throw one little piece of paper, big deal. But what if your whole 10th grade home room class does? yeah.. not that much but still a lot more! Then- your whole 10th grade classmates, then the whole 11th grade, theneven the 9th and 12th graders! WOAH... thats one huge pile of gum wrappers. You see, one paper is a difference of everything thinking that "oh, its just one small piece of paper!" Think of how many other people are, thinking the same thing as you! In the same state, in the same coast, same area, some country, some continent, same world... I created this club for a reason, I'm here to show how many people do care about this world- how many, are ready to end Global Warming!
There is a hole in the ozone layer, and global warming is causing it to get a large hole, (letting in these harmful rays)
if the ozone were to collapse, we all would be for doom.
Here is a current size of the hole -
Ya, its big... not kiddin'. And us keeping up with doing nothing about it, well what do you think? the hole will get bigger? uh ya. So please- sign up for the EGW (End Global Warming) Club if you promise me, and the world itself you will help end this! each week I will post a HUGE fact, about how to help ending it and whats going on. Members[purple]IRiS Chr[/purple] [black]Firefly Juice[/black] Good luck! and keep clean.

I'd love to join! After seeing all of those pictures and reading this, I'd love to help, somehow. It's sad that this has happened, after millions of years, now our planet is at risk of being destroyed, and we are a big part of the cause. It seems as the world grows, there are more things we need to be afraid of. Well, yeah. :\ Im in.

Yeah, I guess you're right. I was thinking about that earlier, what if this 'Global Warming' thing is no big deal? What if this is what the planet will naturally do every 2009 years and then it'll disappear? LOL, there's another things about what I said, I guess, we don't need to be scared, as you said, we're just unsure.

Yerp! the only thing is we need to be aware, not sit back and say it will blow over. We don't know if its nature, or us. But hopefully we will find out soon and fix it, so our lil Polar Bears won't be extincted.

It's Wensday, but thats fine. Just try not to use up too much white.
White takes up most of the power of your computer. -stares at daD's layout-
erm well, ish okay.

Please add (:
Has anyone heard about these points? -There was once a gas shortage in the late 70's early 80's. A private car company released a 100 mpg car that would help conserve gas. It never reached consumers. Instead, it was taken off the market when prices went down. Now we drive 10 mpg gas guzzlers that continue to release TONS of carbon dioxide. What happened? -According to my science teacher (who majored in biology and was once a scientist. she is very reliable) scientists believe there are two major deadlines to fight global warming. the first is 2020. If we don't make a lot of process by then, thats the point of no return. We have to start now, or in 10 years it will be way too late. And if we don't make that promise, the earth will be uninhabitable by 2050. That is if we do nothing to fight global warming. Scary right? -This is not the normal cycle. If you look at graphs of the earth's climate for hundreds of years back, you can see the cycle. Warmer, cooler, warmer, cooler then a major spike in climate right around the early 1990's. And now it is much higher than it has been for hundreds of years, right when we began manufacturing more than we ever had. -Did you know white computer screens use MUCH more energy than any other color? Theres even a special search engine that is all black in order to save energy. So keeping this in mind, use dark screensavers, backgrounds, and maybe even change the skin to a darker color?
Hope this informs you a bit more about global warming (:
